Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be launching a new member-directed giving program which allows members the opportunity to direct charitable dollars to institutions like Concordia-New York. Through this new program, Thrivent hopes to increase the number of Thrivent Financial members involved in directing charitable funds.
The GivingPlus Matching Gift Program and the Caring Congregations Program were terminated by Thrivent at the end of December 2009. Fraternal money previously directed to these programs will be combined to create a new program called Thrivent Choice. Thrivent reports that $125 million has been budgeted to Thrivent Choice for 2010. This is not a matching gift program. The new program will allow eligible benefit members the ability to direct Choice Dollars (most likely to be between $25 and $100) to a Lutheran institution like Concordia. Eligibility will be based on a member’s involvement and product ownership with Thrivent Financial. Beginning in the summer, a simple phone call or online process will direct one’s Choice Dollars to Concordia. What a wonderful opportunity to honor Concordia, by designating us to receive your Choice Dollars!
