Passing the Mantle
Sarah J. Sirgey, ’05, recently received a full-time call as a kindergarten teacher at Trinity Christian School in West Senaca, NY. The interesting part is, Sarah took over the post from her former kindergarten teacher, Carolyn Habedank, who retired after 20 years in ministry at the school and church. Sarah participated in a special retirement party for her former teacher in which she gave thanks for Ms. Habedank as a mentor, colleague, and friend. "Carolyn is one of my all-time favorite teachers," said Sirgey, "I am working hard to fill her shoes!"
Sarah is very happy with her position at Trinity. She finds the staff support to be "amazing" and has a great group of students. Sarah's three-year-old son, Jonas, attends Trinity's pre-school. In addition to teaching and parenting, Sarah oversees the Sunday School program at Trinity Church.
